Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
