Scotland Needs to Take the Following Move Following New Zealand Heartbreak - Townsend

"Victory was there. We know the win was within reach."
Head coach Gregor Townsend voiced satisfaction in Scotland's display against New Zealand but was disappointed by a 25-17 defeat at Murrayfield.
The hosts were behind 17-0 at the half, only to fight back and tie the score on the hour.
However, the New Zealand team, who had multiple members placed in the penalty box, struck late through Damian McKenzie to prevent Scotland the opportunity of a first victory in this match-up.
"I'm really disappointed first of all, because the hard work that went into that latter period showing was pure determination," Townsend stated.
"We needed to push forward when it got to 17-17 and there were a few big moments that went New Zealand's way.
"Exceptional second period, we demonstrated our true selves today and we probably revealed who we are by not getting the win as well.
"There's growth in this team and we must win those big moments when the match is there for us.
"Aspects of that game indicate we are up there with the top sides in the world. We just must make that next step."
Crucial Events of the Game
- Scores from Ewan Ashman and Kyle Steyn hauled Scotland back into an gripping battle.
- Darcy Graham and Rory Hutchinson had been held up over the line in the opening period when Cameron Roigard and Will Jordan notched points for the visitors.
"Opponents get tired when you apply pressure," said Townsend, who has now been defeated in three home Tests against the All Blacks as head coach - all by narrow margins.
"I would like to be playing New Zealand again next week. We play Argentina and we must apply what we have gained.
"This is the first time this team has played together since the tournament. To get that cohesion immediately is challenging and to see it develop during the game is encouraging.
"However it's so frustrating with that effort that we didn't get a win.
"It represents the nearest we've been to winning, I believe. We dominated the later stages, field position, intensity, ability. We've not done that against New Zealand in our past and we are better for the encounter.
"The team's path doesn't stop today. We have a crucial game coming up and bigger games to come in the Six Nations."
Captain's Reaction
Scottish captain Sione Tuipulotu labeled the loss as "bittersweet" and stressed the importance of a win against Argentina, having started the autumn series with a record score against the United States.
"I told the boys we required a reaction at the break," he said. "Either we lie down or decide to fight back.
"There was no downside and all to play for.
"We have to recover for the upcoming match because Argentina will not make it any easier."
